Round three of the 4NCL Online took place on the 8th October
Ashfield Anonymous “A” 3 v Dundee “C” 1
A win is a win. Richard’s opponent blundered into a mate in two after our early advantage had dissipated. Although material up David faced a pawn steam roller whilst Justin’s opponent exceeded the time limit with still plenty of play in the position. Steve’s opponent rushed play in a N & P ending turning a potential win into a clear loss. So we continue with 100% after three games
Ashfield Anonymous “B” 2½ v Morpeth 1½
Alex C’s early win was counterbalanced by an unfortunate loss on Board 2. When points were halved on Board Four all the excitement was reserved for Board 3 where despite severe time pressure Alex B secured both the win in his game and the match. So we open our account in this Division.
Ashfield Anonymous “C” 3 v Streatham & Brixton “B” 1
Some solid play by our elder statesmen on Boards 3 & 4 was complemented by attacks from our younger members on the top boards where we scored maximum points. An excellent result when the ratings were so closely matched.
